Creating a Grounding Space and Mindset

Hello!

Hope you’re wonderful, safe and healthy.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions on how to reduce stress and ground our energy lately.

Here are a few things to keep in mind in case supportive for you, you brilliant soul you!

  1. Know it can be natural to feel a bit “off” lately or a LOT bit off.

One thing to consider is that, according to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, we’re working through many of the base needs now in our current world.

Until those foundational needs are addressed, it can take much more energy to support the higher levels of our wellbeing such as belongingness, love and esteem.

Design and Mindset tips to consider in supporting your grounding badassery:

  • 1) Find a spot that helps you feel most grounded (such as a corner seat by a window)

  • 2) Arrange furniture so your back is to a solid surface (such as a wall or a tall back to a chair)

  • 3) Integrate elements of soothing nature such as sounds of running water, essential oils such as lavender, colors of blues and greens, natural textures and daylight

    • Bonus! Engage a range of senses where possible with your changes.

  • 4) Place an element in that area that helps you feel most supported and loved, such as an image of loved ones or a piece of pottery your child made you.

  • 5) When you find yourself feeling an increased level of stress, choose to take a few deep breaths, close your eyes and spend a few moments in your grounding area.

    • Consider this process for your breathing: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds

  • 6) While in that grounding area, consider getting your thoughts out on paper via journaling or creating art.

**Blanket forts with lights provide a nice grounding area too! :) **

As always, be gentle with yourself. Remember to be kind to yourself and those around you.

Sending you lots of love today and always.

Speaking of LOVE - Happiest of PRIDE to you and your loved ones!

All the Very Best,

Bonnie
